Housing by the community, for the community

Dreams of community housing need more than wishful thinking. The total cost of Kwas House is $3,955,000. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2023, pending construction financing. Kwas House is taking a step by step approach to development. The next step requires $125,000 in cash donations to remove the old house on the property and to pay building permit costs. This page summarizes the inputs and outputs of the project.

Money In

Kwas House is using emergent, non linear means to manage funding.  This means the financial parts of the funding process are not static and isolated, as is the case in reductionist systems. Instead, Kwas House funding is achieved by allowing  sources to be dynamic and interactive. This means the Kwas House funding system as a whole is greater than the sum of the parts and can self organize with a mind of its own once a critical mass is achieved.

Money Out

Kwas House understands that a penny saved is a penny earned. The project’s success is dependent on wise and careful spending. Kwas House makes full use of the Community Champions program which asks development professionals and construction companies to sharpen their pencils and to go the extra mile to ensure success.  The end result will be a net 10% reduction of costs.
